Right. I can drive 5 miles down the interstate to a Fry's and get a 3D printer for less than $300. Their top-of-the-line model is about $1,200.

Absolutely. Don't forget about 3D printers, either. Programs for very basic single shot or double barrelled pistols using them are pretty much in the public domain. Or you can buy an existing gun barrel and magazine and print most of the rest of the needed parts.
