    One of the great conservative tropes is the idea that jobs are there for the taking and lazy poor people simply refuse to take them. Red states devalue education at all levels and their elected officials then whine when people are unemployed. People without training aren't in position to get the sort of jobs that will get them off public assistance.

    I don't necessarily disagree. But we've got production jobs that pay $14-15 an hour and have a difficult time filling them all.
