And that's the other part of it ... it takes two to tango. Both GMs have jobs on the line and potentially sending a stud to a division rival for prospects who could turn out to be garbage, or vice versa, is not often in the best interests of self preservation.

I would guess they would've waited till after the break. Perhaps the poor road trip would've changed things if he was healthy.

It's not quite the same thing, but I would have no problem sending Quintana etc. to the Cubs. The last time a non-contending White Sox team traded with the Cubs they ended up with Jon Garland.

Does the rise of Judge make Trout and or Harper less likely to end up in NY?

Swanson jumped on him with the tag well after the play, the ump rules that at one millisecond his foot and knee were out of contact with the bag, replay showed inconclusive.

The whole tag thing is making a mockery of what replay review was supposed to fix.

Trout is signed through 2020 and I'd think the Angels would be backing up multiple Brinks trucks to keep him.

Harper supposedly wants to be a Yankee, but, yeah, Judge's rise (no pun intended) may affect whether the Yankees go after him. They also have in their system Clint Frazier who is supposed to be their center fielder of the future, and Blake Rutherford, who is a couple of years away. Plus, they're still stuck with Ellsbury until 2020.

Depending on how Torres does at third next year, the Yanks may end up going after Machado instead.

This morning I was listening to Cubs announcer Len Kasper on one of the Chicago sports talk radio shows last night. He said that Arrieta is "the most interesting player on the Cubs." They talked with him about Arrieta for quite a while.

Never took Kasper for a troll until then.
