The overall makeup of the electorate is always changing. There are 17 year olds in Ga.-6 that didn't vote last night, and there are people who did who won't be around to do so in 2018. Only personal experience changes votes on a big scale. Trump voters have to change themselves, and some may well if they think Trump broke his promises to them or if there's another economic disruption. Nothing Democrats can do about that.

And you picked Jill Filipovic to carry the water for them.

The only strategy that works in a country as big as ours is to compete everywhere and let the chips fall where they may. Recruit the best candidates you can, accepting that some will be most imperfect, and move forward.

OK, but most Americans don't even know who Mike Trout is. You overestimate baseball's reach severely.

Sure. But, Dems don't simply want an evolving electorate, where younger, more progressive voters replace older, more conservative ones.

They want a more black and brown electorate. They want more recent immigrant voters. And they need more poor voters.

And so this is where their priorities will be. Restoration of felon voting rights. More immigration of poor, unskilled workers. A push for citizenship for illegal immigrants. And, of course programs that will sustain poverty, and encourage single parent households.

I used that as a comparison exaggeration. I'll bet real money way more people know who Andre Igoudala is.

Henrico County suburbia is a bigger hellhole than any spot Dixie can conjure up!

We were somewhere around the millionth view on the thread, on the edge of 40,000 posts, when the caffeine began to take hold.

She articulated the message as bluntly and succinctly as anyone.

Dems are talking publicly about white working class voters, in a way that will only further drive them away.

I guess you might as well write them off if you're going to continually call them dumb, hateful and racist in public.

Again, though, stop concentrating on Lena Dunham, in particular. She's simply representative of the parade of Hollywood weirdos that Democrats adopt as surrogates.

Side note: When I saw U2 a few weeks ago, they had a sequence where during a song they flashed the photos of important women in history on the big screen.

    Harriet Tubman.

    Hillary Clinton.

    Condi Rice.

On and on. One inspiring figure after another.

And then, eventually, Lena Dunham's stupid face.

You say people having kids in single-parent households as if it's a bad thing. Even poor Republican voters think it's not a big deal anymore. Heck, I read congratulations on social media when someone announces their surprise pregnancy with a partner they have no intention of staying with.

You just find the most abrasive cartoon character you can to represent liberals. It doesn't matter if it's a middle school student, really.

It's OK. Both sides do it here.
