I'd rather hear from @heyabbott about how Mitch McConnell's wife, who came to the US from Taiwan in 1961 (when she was 8) and later took degrees from Mt Holyoke (BA in Economics) and Harvard (MBA) ... qualifies as a Korean mail-order bride.

The Senate was Gerrymandered when the constitution was written to give southern states disproportionate power to insure slavery would continue.
Much like trump, the Senatorial and House majority does not represent a majority of Americans.
OTOH would it be less fair for the people of New York, Illinois and California to essentially control American govt if direct democracy were in place

Sorry, Taiwanese mail order bride. His wife is an equally horrible person.

If as big a racist as you calls her that, she must be bad.

McConnell "doesn't represent his constituency well." Said constituency disagreed with that premise in 2014.

Yes, but she is unique in that she continues to get more unpopular, even after she lost.

Considering where she was, that's tough to do. You'd also think Trump's performance in office might make some people look more favorably on Clinton. Nope.

I'm pretty sure slaves didn't get insurance, amirite? Plenty of overtime hours, though.

Yep. A constituency that by and large liked the "Affordable Care Act" but hated "Obamacare."

I wonder how many times McConnell uses the term "Affordable Care Act" when he speaks vs. the number of times he uses "Obamacare."

You are an insufferable racist, bigot, and misogynist.

Elaine Chao was born in Taiwan. She came to America in 1961, when she was 8-years-old.

She didn't meet McConnell until the 1990s.

She has an MBA from Harvard.

She's more accomplished than you will ever be.

Mr. McConnell had come to Washington in the 1960s as an intern, and later was an aide in the Senate. He befriended Stuart Bloch, a public interest lobbyist against the Vietnam War who wore a cape and Borsalino hat. (“You have to distinguish yourself,” he explained in a phone interview.) The conservative and liberal young men hit it off, sharing dinners and celebrating each other’s birthday.

In the early 1990s, Mr. Bloch, who was married to Julia Chang Bloch, herself a Chinese immigrant and a future ambassador to Nepal, decided to fix up Mr. McConnell, a bachelor at the time.

Mr. Bloch, now a peace-sign flashing Washington lawyer partial to American flag cummerbunds, oversized sunglasses and the nickname “the Blochbuster,” invited the senator to a candlelight dinner with Ms. Chao, a protégée of his wife’s. “I don’t want to say that sparks flew,” Mr. Bloch said, “because that’s not the way either of them is.”

But the Bush administration appointee and the increasingly powerful Kentucky senator saw something in each other, and she ultimately chose Mr. McConnell over another suitor, C. Boyden Gray, the White House counsel to the elder President Bush.

You know, YF, you say you don't defend Trump. But bashing Hilary Clinton eight months after the fact reads like a de facto defense of Trump.

You made your choice. Own it.
