Who's the oldest dad here?

We had Fiona when I was a month short of turning 47. I think @Buck might have me beat. (Certainly in quantity he does.)

You, @LongTimeListener and @BYH 2: Electric Boogaloo are all 40+ dads though, right?

 

I was 39 and MommaQuant was 42 when DaughterQuant, our youngest, was born.

 

I'm in my 40s with two toddlers.

That actually makes me feel younger.

 

I was 46 when the twins were born and 47 when the littlest one was born.
I'm still 47.
That's 47 with three boys 20-months and younger.
Sucking the life right out of me.

 

I feel for you man. I really do. We've talked about having another. We'd like to for her sake, but it sounds exhausting.

How's your wife holding up?

 

I was just past my 40th birthday when the youngest was born. Which means we had kids in our 20s, 30s and 40s.

I'm on a college tour with the oldest (HS senior to be) right now. In August, the youngest starts kindergarten. I don't know whether that will make me feel old or young, but I'm pretty sure he will have classmates with grandparents my age (45).

 

That's pretty crazy.

Having kids definitely makes me appreciate my own parents. They had three in the first four years of marriage, and six over 13 years. Not sure how they did it.

 

Having two isn't much different than having one, especially if they're close in age like mine are.

It's definitely less of an adjustment than going from zero to one.

 

I might need you to talk to my wife.

I think making the decision to actually try for another might be the hardest part. The first one was a happy accident, but we've now upped our game in that area, so it's unlikely to repeat itself.
