Exactly. You and the rest of the sanctimonious anti-abortion wingnuts are just the worst! But I'd still watch a Bears game with you.

The job/career stuff doesn't bother me too much because it comes from a place of insecurity. It's the family stuff that bothers me. Tell me to die in a fire, I don't care, but leave spouses and especially kids out of it.

There is none of these things that I have not been guilty of at some point over nearly two decades (Jesus) of posting at this site and its predecessors. But I'd like to think I've learned from my mistakes, for the most part. And, maybe as importantly, I admit them if and when I slip up.

See, we do agree on a few things!!

If I had a dollar for every time I've been MFed, here and elsewhere, I'd be retired and not worried about who is going to buy the next bag of dog food if I get the ziggy somewhere.

Just since this board started, I've had a marriage end, three dogs die, one company I work for fold and one company cut my entire division. So it took a while but I finally reached the point QYFW mentioned.

We have too many people here (and too many in the world) who seem to take pleasure in being shitty to others, especially those they'll never actually have to face. Makes you an asshole but it bothers me less than it did years ago.

Yeah. I have a post or 50 I regret in hindsight.

ONE more story and then we stop talking about the other place - moderator's privilege for last post.

The vast majority of folks there are friends, then and now. A few? Not so much. One posted this about me: Fuck moddy, that worthless motherfucker. He's a little bitch.

Inaccurate because I'm hardly little. But the funny thing is this guy applied for a job with me not too long after that. And he had to know, this was well after I revealed my identity.
He couldn't understand why someone with his creds couldn't even get a phone call. I used his screen name in a reply, pointing out he wasn't as anonymous as he thought.

To be fair and tell a similar story from this board, one of my bigger tormentors here applied for a job and even told me in the cover letter who he was on here (I already knew). Figured the board people and the "real life" people could be separate things. Like I'd hire someone who called me a gutless pussy?

Clueless people all over the world (I'm often one of them).

Now carry on - and be nice!

Honestly, rarely does a span of a few days go by where I don't think, "Maybe you should have toned it down a bit, dumbass." Of course, that applies to my non-board life as well.

Real life does have a way of putting your virtual life in perspective. I still don't understand why people talk to other people the way they do sometimes, but at some point it doesn't matter.

Plus, like you said, if it costs them a job, then the joke's on them. Time has a way of sorting things out.

The board people I know in real life are all pretty much exactly the same as they are here. For better or for worse.

I don't think I've ever come across someone who is an asshole here and not one in real life. Or vice versa.
