Yeah. Not quite. I thought your son was younger than that. But I am probably older than you realize. I am going to be 49 in less than 3 weeks.

What did CNN say was false about the story? They said it didn't meet their "editorial standards", but they didn't say it was untrue.

And others have been making the claim that the story is true, but is based on a single, anonymous source, so they were forced to retract it.

And then there's the excuse making for how it was published:

CNN is responsible for what "others" are insisting?

Since they haven't said the story was untrue, yes, in part.

They're failure to do so allows others to make the case.

    SPOILER ALERT!

He smiled because Miss Shimmer kissed him, not because of societal pressure. And, whenever anyone suggested he smile, he said he wanted to, but couldn't because he was shackled to a horrible self image.

On second thought, it sounds more like an awful Nicholas Sparks novel than a children's book.

LOL. This book is literally right next to me on the couch. But, my cover is different, maybe it's a slightly different tale:

In this one, the fish does cheer up after a smooch and a cheer-up wish, but he never talks, and "Miss Shimmer" is never named.

    Dude. They're totally different stories.

There's a bunch of them, too. The one about him being afraid of the dark was my son's favorite. I like the one where he goes to school for the first time.

Does the fish get lectured to smile in every story?

Maybe they get better, but not impressed with our introduction to the franchise. Maybe a reboot is in order.

Llama Llama Red Pajama gets the publicity, but this is my favorite Anna Dewdney book.
