I remember Jayson Stark used to reference this guy's work all the time:

I'm going to the Nats game tonight. Fireworks after. Game is sold out.

To the delight of myself, @exmediahack, @Jake_Taylor, and Royals fans everywhere, I hereby predict the Kansas City Royals will win the AL Central this year.

I'd be thrilled with getting a wild card spot, but rumor is Dayton might go after a front of the rotation starter at the deadline, so I guess they are all in.

When they were 10-20, I was going on one of the local sports shows to "blow it up".

The Royals still have so many flaws. Too many strikeouts. Eventually the home runs will go cold. Right field defense is a disaster. Not enough speed or at least guys willing to burn it (Cain is playing not to get hurt before his last and only big payday).

It's been a fun six weeks since that awful start. Cleveland is pulling away and this concerns me. I don't see a WC from the central.

Still, I'd rather push all in for this year. They'll rebuild in 2018-20.

Yu Darvish might be available. The Rangers want to re-sign him. But they won't.

What's Texas looking for in return?

They have to be all in now.
Hosmer, Moustakas, Escobar, Cain, and Vargas are all UFA after the season.
I think you keep Hosmer and Cain, but lose Moose, Escy and Vargas....so you have to get an arm now.....even it's just for the rest of the year.

My guess is prospects, if they bomb out in July. They won't deal him if they somehow stay in the wild card chase, in fact they might add. The Rangers always find a way to win the trade deadline.

But right now they're stuck in no-man's land, right around .500 but in spitting distance of the second wild card. The worst place to be — because they don't know yet whether they're buyers or sellers.
