Apparently a crewcut is part of the ensemble.

This is a small point in the larger tragedy of those outfits, but the fabrics and tailoring are really beautiful, and they've been wasted to make a bunch of dudes look like they're posing for a proof of life photograph.

I know a bunch of high end designers have closed down their lines, but does anyone make money designing clothes like this?

It's got to be an incredibly small market of men who would wear this, and who could afford it.

And, I know some of the runway stuff is more about brand building, and selling the lesser expensive stuff, but still, how do these guys stay in business?

I've often thought that it's not so much about the model's outfit as it is presenting elite-end fabrics. Need the sizzle to sell the steak.

As typefitter said, most of those fabrics are elite-end. I'd like to wear a suit made of them.

Not sure I'd wear those heeled wingtips. Well, maybe to see what they feel like walking around the store.

Thom Browne has been around a long time.

How Should a Suit Jacket Fall? Thom Browne's Answer Turns Conventional Suiting Wisdom on its Head

I imagine he does this for three reasons:

    1) Brand awareness. (Look, we're talking about it.)

    2) It kind of advances the possibilities, so his regular tiny suits don't seem so strange. You might pull men along a little by going this extreme. It sets a different bar.

    3) He does women's clothing, too, and maybe this convinces a woman to check out his pleated skirts.

I don't like a lot of what he does, but all of it, including the weird stuff, is beautifully made, and I respect the hell out of that.

Be careful using that word on this site. Especially given its normal usage in this context of men in skirts. NTTAWWT

And I thought this thread would be about the Esquire Channel going off the air.

Huh. Looks like it went under on June 28. That's interesting.
