We lived in Hagerstown for two years because my wife had a really good job there, but knew right away it was just a matter of time before the salary wasn't worth it anymore. It felt like serving a sentence.

There are some hoors who still live in town - they'd probably throw you an F if you're in town for the day. I can contact them on facebook if you like.

Hagerstown would kill for chain sprawl.

My older sister lives in Hagerstown. It's always been kind of just ... there. Not much of anything to recommend there, depressingly so for a good-sized town. Although it's better than Martinsburg, W.Va., about 12 miles down the road.

Fly, you could probably spend the entire trip hitting Civil War sites around Fredericksburg/Culpeper and then the Hagerstown/Harpers Ferry area. Depending on which way you are heading at the end, Gettysburg might not be too far out of the way.

Hey, it had a Boston Market 20-plus years ago. Who could want more?
