That really wasn't bad at all. Very nice and peaceful.

I was recently turned on to the Revivalists. Some of their lyrics are truly awful, and I know the video screenshot makes them look like a bunch of assholes, but damn if they can't find a catchy groove. And the singer has some serious pipes.

Lake Street Dive and Leon Bridges are two of my favorite discoveries in the last five years or so.

The most recent band I've stumbled upon--even though I love some of their songs and hate others, and there doesn't seem to be much in between--is Thao & The Get Down Stay Down.

Lake Street Dive is excellent. Popped up on my Spotify discover list one week and I was sold.

Just found Calvin Harris, Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 1, a really nice summer album (old school description) but some smooth grooves with contemporary singers (Frank Ocean, Snoop, etc.)

Listened to more of Isbell's latest. I really like some songs -- If We Were Vampires, Cumberland Gap -- but he's trying to hard on songs like Hope the High Road and White Man's World.

I agree with this. It's quite obvious that his foray into fatherhood has completely shaped his songwriting, which is understandable. I like the album quite a bit, but it's not Southeastern. I don't think he can ever replicate Southeastern. It's one of the best five albums I've ever listened to.

The first hour of the syndicated radio program Smokestack Lightin' is all new blues releases:

    Smokestack Lightnin'

Try out some Selwyn Birchwood. Found him there, among others.
