I'm just of the opinion that if the Times wants to report on the contents of an email, maybe they should have the email in their possession, or at least have read it.

And, if they have to rely on sources to report on the contents of the email, maybe the sources should be in possession of the email, or at least have read it.

Is that really an unreasonable position?

 

You have been told literally hundreds of times that with an ongoing investigation people are not going to out their sources or release sensitive documents. I don't doubt that the Times and the WaPo both are in possession of copies of emails or tapes that they are sitting on at the request of Mueller in order not to impede his investigation..

You're griping that the three sources had not read the emails? How did what they said substantively differ from what DT Jr released?

More than that, the pile of smoking guns is to the point that there are more of them than in the Chicago and NY police evidence rooms combined. At what point do you grudgingly admit that maybe, just maybe, the Trump campaign might have done things that were both improper and illegal? You point at the things you don't like and ignore the stinking dungheap that is the Trump administration.

They came alongside dozens of strange meetings between Clinton campaign aides and Chinese staffers — contacts left off security clearance forms and “forgotten” during sworn congressional testimony — and were buttressed by Clinton herself lurching toward a strangely pro-China policy and an unusual, and repeatedly articulated, affection for China’s leader.

And imagine that in a crucial stretch of the campaign, hackers backed by the Chinese government really did break into the Trump family’s systems and release a bevy of damaging financial documents in a successful effort to elect Clinton."
