I hope the Orioles find an effective starting rotation.

Why did you think it was convincing?

I didn't watch the documentary, but sounds to me like it was based on laughably scant evidence. Aside from the dubious nature of the photo itself, was no explanation given for when it was taken or by whom? You know, the type of info some blogger was quickly able to find with little effort.

I jumped the gun on that.

Great answer. Good job, Jake. You're a stand up guy. The way some things go around here, that could have been a multi-post, multi-page debate. Instead, you just nailed it with a simple six word reply. Six! 6! I knew 6 was special at SJ world.

Seriously, your reply was refreshing, to me at least.

And Stoney, I'm not poking at you. Valid question to pose.

I was kind of buying the story myself, but the thing that bugged me about the photo is that if they are being held prisoners, they sure were being loosely guarded. Anyway, I had wished this was actually leading to something. Now on to greater relevance, tonight's ASG.

Normally I'm fairly skeptical. For some reason, that day I read it and thought "eh, makes sense I guess" without any further thought or digging.

No, Jeff Pearlman found the former proprietor of Sports by Brooks, who was breaking stories on the regular and then basically vanished from the sports landscape. From what I've gathered, he had some mental health issues and that's why he went silent. But I've never read or seen anything definitive.

The Hoffa thing is perpetually intriguing as every few years someone seems to have a deathbed confession about participating in his murder and/or the disposal of his body.

The baseball all-star game: one of the few things less interesting than Earhart's disappearance.
