Dickie, predictive points to what will happen later. ERA is more accurate in measuring what actually happened. Those runs did score against Lester. Also, his average innings per start is now down to 5.7, worse than five-inning Jake's was at any point last season. Short outings were a huge concern to you last year, but now you want to ignore them because it suits your argument.

I get it. You can't stand that I was right about Lester being a problem for the Cubs and you were wrong. You admitted the truth a few posts back and now you want to bury it. Sorry, but it's not working.

It's funny how you spend so much time responding to things that bore you.

Oh, and I see JC is jumping on the pile as usual. Speaking of boring.

If stat A is more accurately predictive than stat B, it means almost by definition that stat A is more accurately capturing actual performance than stat B.

Maybe it was a change in catchers or something.

I don't know what the league-wide change in SIERA is, but I suspect it is fairly significant, given the home run spike. That might account for all or most of Lester's SIERA and xFIP middling spikes.

So Lester really didn't give up all of those runs and he really hasn't averaged less than six innings per start? You're funny.

Back to the larger point, you claimed that you go on and on about Arrieta only because you are so interested in the Cubs, yet you largely ignored the team's other glaring flaws most of the first half of the season. You ignored Lester until you discovered you could find yet another argument there. At least you finally showed a shred of integrity by acknowledging that his performance has diminished from last season, something everybody else saw long ago.

Funny how the guy so fascinated by the Cubs has so little to say about the major trade they made today. Quintana seemed to be coming around of late, but the Cubs gave up a lot to get him. I wonder why you haven't dug so deeply into today's news about the Cubs. Oh wait. No, I really don't wonder that at all.

Why does John Lackey suck now?

Does Andrew McCutchen still suck now, too?
