Good side of signing Pablo Sandoval - you could pay him the minimum.
Bad side - you have zero leverage on him.

I'm the same way, but the field thing really bothered me because it wasn't even a nice high school field or a small minor league park. It was like they could only afford to rent out a cheap city park on a Saturday morning to film the whole thing. Almost every high school baseball field I go to looks better than that.

Gotta make sure he sits on a board or something before he plants himself on the bench. Then, with enough manpower, you can use it as a fulcrum to lift him up and get him going.

Yankees top the Red Sox in 16 innings today. Time of game: 5:50. I think there have been shorter cricket tests.

In fairness, it did go 16. On the other hand, I was in downtown Boston for another event tonight and we drove past Fenway on the Pike at around 9:45 and the lights were still on. I joked, typical Sox-Yanks thinking the lights were on for cleanup or something. Get home and find out it was probably the last inning going on.

The second game of the scheduled network doubleheader (Texas-KC) finished before that one.

Embarrassed to say I saw it in the theater...

As for accurate baseball movies, I thought Little Big League was pretty darn good if, you know, you set aside the premise of a teenager running a baseball team.

A lot of pitchers are going to be called up tomorrow with Yankees-Red Sox playing a doubleheader.

And they don't let owners manage anymore. Thanks, Ted Turner.

Speaking of running time, the game time of Babe Ruth's debut with Boston on July 11, 1914? One hour, 33 minutes.
