No, I just liked the photo. I thought I copied the Baseball Reliquary's FB page.

He recorded 21 outs in 7 full innings.

Those 12Ks took up 51 pitches, or 4.2 per K, which is probably what's impressive about it. He didn't waste pitches on the Ks.

So the other 9 outs took up 55 pitches.

12 strikeouts at 4.25 pitches per strikeout. My God, that seems efficient.

Then, nine outs and 12 hits, so 21 batters, 55 pitches.

Lester has had quite a few games like that this year. He has also had quite a few stinkers. But hey, maybe it will turn out that he was only part of the Cubs' problems for a little more than half a season.

I certainly hope that is the case from a fantasy standpoint.

You watch enough guys do it to you, I guess you're bound to learn a thing or two.

Not mentioned: Neither of those teams won the World Series.

Also interesting is that 1936 Giants team. They were 40-41 after losing the first game of a doubleheader against the Pirates on July 15 to end a skid when they'd lost 12 of 16. They were 16-27 from late May through that loss to the Pirates, after getting out to a 25-14 start. Talk about an up and down team.

Well, the boy woke up sick this morning. So no Kershaw game for me tonight. Splurged for 24th row behind the plate, too. Fuckity fuck.
