I'm sure that is the thinking. I just think that was an example of punting too early.

Nah, Dick isn't on the list of posters who need to be protected. These will stay up.

Can't we all just get along?

The Pirates' broadcast crew was just discussing days off for regulars, but most of the conversation focused on the importance of getting at-bats for the guys on the bench so they will be ready to contribute when needed. I'm still not a fan of sitting guys like Harper, Arenado or Altuve very often, but I can understand the thinking behind it.

I added Arenado to the discussion because he got a day off Tuesday. For what it's worth, he followed that day of rest with three home runs Wednesday.

I would go nuts sitting for the night if I were a position player.

I'd probably just pass the time posting here.

So I've always wondered, if it is really a night off, why does he still have to warm up, put on the uniform and sit on the bench? In case it goes 16 innings and they need him. If my job made me put on slacks and a button down and just sit at my desk on a day off, I'd be a little pissed.

Almost every position player I ever met loved the occasional day off. At this time of year, boredom causes as many slumps as anything else.

Plus, if it's a day game they can get right fucked the night before .

In the spirit of Tom Browning's 1993 rooftop visit in Wrigley, there should just be a party deck with a swimming pool out in the outfield for the starting pitchers on their off days.

If your job made you a multi-millionaire and gave you Nov-Feb off, you'd probably deal.
