First thought was that WH leaked this to grease skids for the execution of Jeffrey Beauregard Secessions XVII. But why do it at 5 pm on Friday?

Tell your assistant/flunky: It is 9:00 a.m. I want a mini-fridge in this office by 5 p.m.

Assisstant/flunky: How and where do I get it?

Spicey: I don't give a fuck. Have it in my office by 5 p.m. Fuck that; make it by noon.

And yet Spicey himself ends up wrangling a mini-fridge down the driveway under cover of darkness.

 

Mini-fridge is what, fifty bucks? Seventy-five at the outside? Send a flunky to Walmart.

 

It is entirely possible that the WH leaked it. I don't have a real problem believing that. As to 5 pm on Friday? Habit?

 

I think it has more to do with newspaper changes than who leaked it. A story like this is gone over very, very, very carefully for a relatively long time, a week at least from first draft to publish, with the leaks coming well before that. Once upon a time, a story you had nailed down by Friday would be published in the Sunday paper with its much bigger circulation. Now it's fire it onto the Website and reaction stories go in the Sunday paper.

 

Goddamit, the thought of this.

Fast forward eight hours to Spicer velcroing on one of those back supports.

 

Beauregard might have to disenfranchise 5,000 brown people to get over the disappointment.
