My thoughts on euthanasia of children who may be doomed to a life of suffering is that humanity needs to go awhile without a broad-ranging genocide before it can be entrusted to thread the needle on that kind of moral calculus. Until then, erring on the side of life is the rule.

I don't see how blurring the lines between directed death, denied expansion of treatment and removed treatment provides clarity to these discussions. As far as I can tell, the Gard case isn't the "do children with severe problems have a right to treatment to possibly save them" that some want it to be. It's "can parents allow their suffering, dying children to be subjected to medical experimentation that isn't for their benefit on their way out against doctor's advice."

    Yes. Exactly.

They did it, and you let them get away with it. So, now it's accepted practice.

Not with Obamacare but with TrumpdoesntCare the death panels will be replaced with Insurnce Company economists and accountants and if it isn't cost effective to provide medical care, let the children die.

And it happens all the time. Parents without adequate healthcare coverage for their kids don't get them routine medical treatments, checkups and medicines.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Trump is simply playing the game by the same rules Dems have been playing by for years.

Dems used to be able to shame Republicans into abiding by rules they refused to abide by. Trump was immune to that, and won, and it's making Dems crazy.

No. THats too simplistic even for a trump acolyte. That's akin to saying everybody speeds, speeding is against the law but relatively accepted, so rape is acceptable. Its just a matter of degree right? Same principle.

Are you familiar with the phrase "a difference of kind, not degree"?

We would criticize Trump (and give him no credit when he pretends to care about any minority group) because he's a habitual liar and only a damn fool would believe him.

The social justice outrage at every perceived slight or indiscretion is getting a little tiresome, yes.

And BTW, what Trump is doing, his immaturity, avarice, greed, covetousness, intemperance and ignorance are nothing as done by democrats. Even if I don't like the worst of them, like Maxine Waters and Hillary Clinton, they are not playing the same game as Trump. The line goes from Wallace to Pat Buchanan to Gingrich ... to Trump. Escalating in an exponential manner.
