I thought the whole point was that they didn't storm the wall. The first set of visuals showed what would have happened if they took that approach, but then Tyrion revealed his plan, which got them inside without having to storm the walls. What did deplete them some was the actual battle, but not much because most of the Lannister army was gone.

The key loss for the Unsullied is the ships. Now they have to march over land, which is much harder and takes longer.

The preview makes it sound like Daeny is done with strategy and ready to use overwhelming force. That could go very badly, too, but definitely trying to do the right thing fails consistently on the show.

I think the Unsullied losing a lot of their numbers was in the "alternate scenario" Tyrion painted of them attacking Casterly Rock directly. In what actually happened (them invading through the sewer and Tyrion's sex bunker), they had a much easier time. But yeah, whoever was still on the ships is probably dead.

Most importantly, they were too far away from where all the action was happening to help defend Highgarden.

I guess the question is, what does the rest of Dorne do? The Sand Snakes were part of the royal family, so I can't imagine they'll sit the rest of this one out.

Who is left in charge in dorne? Aren't most of the royals dead? Also, wondering who is in charge of the Freys? I assume there is a war there as the various heirs battle each other? Does this allow another family to take over the riverlands?

I wonder the same things. I have a feeling they'll just forget about Dorne and the Riverlands, casting them off as ruler-less kingdoms. It seems like going forward we'll have just a handful of locations (King's Landing, Winterfell, The Wall, The Citadel) to deal with as both wars play out.

I could see Riverrun maybe making a return to the picture. Edmure Tully will most likely be looking for a little revenge and with Jaime and the Lannister troops busy conquering Highgarden and the Freys pretty much wiped out (save for the few that are holding Riverrun), Edmure could raise up an army of Tullys to take back Riverrun and join the North.

Great episode though. Definitely moved the story along really quickly.

Oh, and one more thing. I keep reading that Euron is going to be this season's Ramsey Bolton. Well, I can't see it. I can't be the only one that likes Euron, right? I think he's funny, and I love the fact that he got rid of the Sand Snakes. Ramsey never did anything redeeming.

The actress who plays Dany is just not good enough for the importance of the part.

Neither is the guy who plays Jon Snow. The two most important characters in the show are played by the worst actors.

Agreed that he's not very good, but she's public access bad.

I think you're right. I just didn't realize straight away that the first set was just ac what if. That said with the amount of casualties on the wall, I wonder how many survived.

Still, brilliant move by Cersi and Jaime to lull everyone toward Casterly Rock but actually go to High Garden. Curious if the gold actually makes it over.

I really liked what they did with the pacing. Daeny and Jon Snow, they took their time with those scenes, let that breathe and unfold naturally. The rest of the show was all but headlong. As to Davos mentioning Jon being stabbed in the heart, my money is on Jon and Daeny winding up in bed, her seeing the scar and worming the story out of him during pillowtalk. That would lead to her taking his "Army of the Dead" story a bit more seriously.

The Dorne storyline is done. They'd be nuts to return to it, just leave a rotting corpse and her mother in the back of our minds.

It's not often that you see someone win their own death scene. Diana Rigg has been nothing but great as the Queen of Thorns.

    More thoughts:
-- I know they can't show everything for it to be explained, but it appears Sansa left her crippled brother alone in the woods solo last night. Is the reed girl nearby like somekind of uber driver waiting to be beckoned to move him?
-- varys looked uncomfortable last night. I don't think i have ever seen him worried like that. Could be a red herring, but likely not at this point in the series.
-- drove me a little nuts that dany mentioned snow lost two brothers as well. As far as she knows, he has three dead brothers and maybe a sister. That is happy days forgetting chuck style bad writing.

Edmure is a Lannister captive, if memory serves.

See, I'd argue that the kid that plays Bran is the worst actor. Just seems like every scene with him is pulling teeth. That very uncomfortable scene with him and Sansa was difficult to watch. He was just so blah. And if I had to bet on which of those kids would be the better actress/actor six seasons later, I'd have put my money on Bran. Sansa was as stiff as a piece of Iron Islands driftwood the first season. She's turned into quite the great actress.
