Dodgers won 42 of 49 a few years ago and it got them jack-shit in the playoffs.

Let's see 'em do it when it counts.

Mariners acquire first baseman Yonder Alonso for minor leaguer Boog Powell. Interesting move, especially because Alonso hasn't done much the last month or so after a monster start to the season.

The question is, can the Rams lose more games than the Dodgers in two months? I say yes.

Ott, Foxx, amd Mantle probably won't have company -- Trout -- in the 1,000-hit, 500-RBI, 500-walk before 26 Club.

Trout has 999 hits and had a double taken away just now in the 7th.

    He turns 26 tomorrow.

Burt Hooton finished 2nd in the '78 NL Cy Young voting.

People will freak out about this, but from a working conditions standpoint, it absolutely is a dump.

The buried lede in the story, as I recall this morning when I read the dead tree version, is that he's planning to come out with a score-settling book of some kind later this year.

I'd be interested to know the amount of accurate information available for replacement players stats from 1905.

There's some baseline they use. Maybe the worst starter in the league each season? I'm not sure, but I don't know that it would make the metric any less accurate then than now.

It factors in fielding runs, and uses video tracking. Would think it may be a little less accurate with Cobb and Hornsby than it is for the modern players.
