Seems pretty clear the pieces are moving into place that will have Trumpers running against GOP incumbents who aren't seen to have "done enough" next spring. And given who will likely still be voting then, they will probably win.

"By Trumpian logic, the cost of all-out war might be acceptable if the war remains on the other side of the world—a thought that ought to keep South Koreans and Japanese up at night. The definition of “acceptable losses” depends heavily on whose population is doing the dying."

That's an idiotic statement. Of course war is ALWAYS better on other soil. Would you prefer the fighting be done here? Should Roosevelt have twiddled his thumbs waiting to see if Japan or Germany attacked the mainland? No one wants war, but if you're going to engage in one, you don't want to be the home team. I swear, some people are so itchy to show their anti-Trump bona fides that they come off sounding more ignorant than he ever could. Just dedicated stupidity.

If we are talking conventional warfare, sure. Then you want every battle to be a road game. But fallout and radiation clouds don't stay put.

Trump has been thinking about striking NK for years.

(Topic aside, this Trump seems a lot more composed, focused and intelligent than the current model.)

"Kim Jon Un is crazy, a madman. There's no telling what he might do!"

Trump openly threatens a nuclear strike.

"Good negotiating ploy, that'll get him to back down. Very presidential!

Assuming the world is still extant by then, we are two weeks away from Alabama's primaries for the Senate special election. To the consternation of many of his most rabid followers down here, he endorsed the guy currently keeping the seat warm, Luther Strange. The Republican race was already crazier than a bag of rabid weasels. No telling how it shakes out now.

Alabama reacts to President Trump's endorsement of Luther Strange

Secretive search for man behind Trump dossier reveals tension in Russia inquiry

Two US congressional staffers who travelled to London in July and tried to contact former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele were sent by a longstanding aide to Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House intelligence committee and a close ally of the White House.

President Trump has sent private messages to Russia special counsel Robert Mueller

Trump's legal team has been in contact with Mueller's office, and Dowd says he has passed along the president's messages expressing “appreciation and greetings’’ to the special counsel.
