If you fight crazy with crazy, expect to get craziness as a result.

That's what North Korea is thinking, too.

So after NK is eliminated as a threat - what then? Seems like every time we remove one nut job from the world stage, another one emerges.

Overwhelming force in that region, however, means hundreds of thousands or maybe even millions of deaths.

If we attack North Korea, they're going to bomb South Korea.

Diplomacy is employed so we can save lives.

If it suddenly became clear that NK had a nuclear-tipped ICBM and was in the process of readying it for launch against the US, the US acting first, with nuclear weapons, to preempt that threat would be entirely consistent with that policy. Not saying it would be advisable, mind you. But that policy absolutely does not shut the door on the use of nuclear weapons to preempt threats.

Diplomacy got us where we are today. It enabled North Korea's nuclear program -- as it has Iran's.

If we take out their ability to launch a missile, I'm not sure how they bomb South Korea.

    Read the Bowden piece.

    I don't understand why you won't.

We're going to be able to surgically take out all of their bombing facilities, air and naval assets, and the artillery they have aimed at Seoul?

    I'm busy arguing!

(I will. I promise. Heading out shortly, so later responses will also be prior to reading it, as I check in and post from the road.)

It's going to be fire and fury, the likes of which the world has never seen. And power too.
