Do we not have a running 2017 golf thread?

So the PGA will fall on Mother's Day weekend and the Open will remain on Father's day weekend. That's actually pretty cool.

Week after Mother's Day, not Mother's Day weekend.

Orlando is a conundrum because a pretty sizable chunk of PGA players hate Bay Hill and played it out of a sense of obligation to Arnie.

And those who didn't play would catch hell from Arnie, which usually meant they'd be back the next year.

I would think Dallas is safe the next decade-plus because of Spieth. They will get the sponsor money for the hometown boy

Bay Hill is a no-brainer to move.
The course is old and outdated by Tour standards.
It was great to see Arnie shaking hands with everyone, and the first year back after Arnie's passing, you knew everyone was going to be there to pay their respects.......it's very similar to playing Nelson's event in Dallas. Everyone loved seeing Byron, and you wanted to go there the year after to say thanks.
Now, if you get more than 2 or 3 in the Top 15 in the world playing it, you're pretty fortunate.

  8. Sounds like Rory is shutting it down for the year, and possibly for several months into next season, as well.

Question for the field. Every year I try and get to the US Open (tennis). But this year the President's Cup is in Jersey City so I might spend the money on a ticket for that instead. Still debating, as I love getting to the Open during the first week and wandering the outer courts, etc.

But, if I do President's Cup, for those who have been to those or Ryder, which day would be best viewing experience: The Saturday with teams squaring off in morning and afternoon, or the Sunday singles? I'm sort of leaning toward the Saturday as I think it'd be cool to see best ball, etc., guys working together in a format you don't normally see. Or is there one day where the holes tend to be more crowded (heh)? But what do vets of these events think?

I was at two Ryder Cups, and I'd advise doing the four-ball and foursomes day, Saturday. It's something you seldom see, which made it more interesting to me. Also, it's liable to be more competitive.

I'd definitely go on the team days. Try to get there early and follow the first group for a few holes.

Was curious about ticket prices so did a quick search ... $130 grounds passes on Saturday. That seems awfully high to me, though admittedly I haven't bought many sports tickets in the last decade.

Yeah I was hoping they'd be less than that. Think I got PGA last year for like 115. The US Open ticket is usually like 120 so that's why I'm gonna do one or the other but not both. It is ridiculous, although with the Open I usually am there for like 7 or 8 hours so I suppose on a per-hour basis, it's not too bad. Would be same with golf. Thanks for the tips.
