I don't think YF is a bad person. I don't even think he means ill on this thread. I think (I hope) he genuinely believes what he believes. But I agree 100 percent with your idea that it's fruitless to engage with him. There's nothing that's going to change his mind about any of it, so why bother trying? It's like trying to argue with a door that thinks it's a window. It's not healthy or helpful for anybody, especially when there are plenty of actual windows just over there.
