So that makes Mooch play the role of Monica? Based on his Trump slurping, there's a blue suit with DNA hidden safely away.

Setting aside the longer term historic side (Jews vs Arabs, Sunni vs Shia, Moslem vs Crusader Christian), I think you really have to go back to the post WWI era when Winston Churchill, as British Foreign Secretary, was in large part responsible (along with the French) for drawing the map of the Middle East as we know it. He pretty much created Jordan, and set the split between Jordan and Iraq. Britain and France drew lines on the map instead of looking at who was where and splitting the areas by where the tribes who liked and cooperated were from where their bitter enemies were. Decades of grief has resulted. His friend T. E. Lawrence could have given him valuable advice, but no one was listening. That's a root cause, long term.

True. And, of course, the more or less arbitrary creation of Israel in part as a reparation to Jews in reaction to the Holocaust, in essence deprived native Palestinians of their homeland in a attempt to atone for the crimes of Germans (specifically Nazis) as a people.

I've always said in the wake of WWII the absolute best and most productive one-third (or population-proportionate area) of territory of WWII Germany should have been carved right out and designated a homeland for European Jews. However many Germans got shoved out or dispossessed to make room, tough shit; that's what you get for allowing Adolf Hitler to take over your country.

But instead the powers that be'd, primarily the US and U.K., wanted to fob the problem off on the brown people Mooslims of the Middle East rather than take a big bite of revenge straight out of the ass of the Aryans they were now trying to reintegrate into the European club. Plus the USSR I am sure wanted no part of any independent Jewish state in Central Europe.

So yeah, a lot of the current clusterfuck in the Middle East dates back directly to the aftermath of WWII and also WWI as you describe -- the carve-up of the Ottoman Empire.

You do realize there were reasons for Jews to want to settle in Israel beyond a desire for a view of the Mediterranean and some date palms in the front yard, yes?

    Yes, of course.

But a nice lush rich productive state in Western Europe hacked right out of the ass of Germany, might have been an attractive alternative for many.

The rest of us are going to need some proof, other than, "He's Rich!".
