Well, there's the "The Apprentice." It made him seem smart and all boss-like. Contestants sought his approval. He was chewing people out and all....

Surely a TV show wouldn't just fake that, would it?

Germany's ass getting hacked after WWI sowed the seeds of WWII. I think that lesson was properly learned.

Or maybe it wasn't hacked enough.

Sheesh @Starman ... you history's worse than your tensor calculus. The Jewish state wasn't "created" by the Western powers ... the Zionist movement had been afoot for decades. Theodor Herzl published the definitive work, Der Judenstaat, in 1896.

It was the solution countenanced by the UN in 1947.

Yep. Those seeds (the Balfour Declaration, the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, the Zionist movement, etc.) had already been sown loong before the end of WWII.

BFD ... the people of Israel weren't passive actors in their fate. They declared and created their own state and, when the time(s) came, defended it. All the UN's declarations didn't mean shit in 1948 ... and 1956 ... and 1967.

The whole "the West created Israel to atone" trope is so much b.s. ethnocentrism that diminishes the agency exerted by that people.

They probably should have been given both: a Holy Land homeland and a nice big juicy chunk of Germany's best territory.

One big problem we seem to have with wars is sometimes it isn't made clear enough that the side that lost lost.

Allowing a Hitler to take power should have consequences. Like about 50 years on your knees.

Unfortunately, we needed a functional West Germany to keep the Soviets from rolling over the continent, so that wasn't really an option.

Trump's need for conflict really comes out, doesn't it?

    He creates and escalates needlessly.

Great, then the last 70 plus years would've been spent with the world enduring two Palestine/Israel type conflicts instead of just one. Do you really think Germans would've passively accepted being evicted from their homeland so that someone else could have "a nice big juicy chunk of Germany's best territory"?

Remind them who started, and lost, the war.
