I turned 44 this year, which means I have been out of college twice as long as I had been alive when I graduated from college.

I think you mean you've been out of college as many years as you had lived when you graduated. Assuming you graduated at 22, you've been out 22 years. You need to be 66 to have been out of college for double your age when you graduated. That or you graduated at 14 and you're about to school me hard.

A mention of "The Pina Colada Song" being referred to as "one old school reference."

It used to be easy figuring out when the "olden times" were - if a picture was in black and white, or a tv show or movie was black and white, it was "old." Now I'm guessing its HD and SD? Or TV shows that are formatted to fit the wide screens?

Yeah, HD and SD is a big jump.

Even home photos from the 1980s look blurry and fuzzy compared to today's razor sharp HD.

Teevee shows and films, the difference is huge.

Elvis died 40 years ago today. I vividly remember it (I was 9). Somehow that makes me feel older than last year being 40 years since the Bicentennial.

    Damn, you ARE old!!
But seriously, yeah, I remember I was getting ready for work when the bulletin came in over the radio.
So I'm older than you are by a good bit.
    Damn, I AM old!

Funny, those are my two earliest memories. Attending the Bicentennial in D.C., where I stayed at Georgetown with my family and remember seeing Native Americans performing a ritual dance. And then the death of Elvis, when I was 4.
