The president is on record many times saying he has superlative genes.
(One glimpse of his rat-faced sons will attest this is not the case.)
Oh, and that he is, like, pretty smart too, OK?
He will not denounce supremacists because he is one.

Always amused by these "gave the women the vote!" comparisons. It's great that women could vote, I suppose, but I'd have been more impressed had voting actually meant something. Everybody votes in North Korea, too.

It's complicated, because Canada. We fall in between the US ("say whatever the fuck you want") and other Western democracies ("Nazi salutes and flags are illegal.")

Basically, you can be criminally responsible for hate speech if it meets seven different requirements. Most critically, it has to be public, intentional, target a specific group, and be the "most severe of the genre." So, anti-Semites can say "I don't like Jews," but they would be charged if they said, "Let's kill the Jews."

It's really designed to curb the worst of hate speech while protecting the freedom of most expression. It's a compromise, and I think it's a good one.

This seems damaging to one's future political career

Nobody really wants to hear any tut-tutting out of someone whose country institutionalized residential schools (and in many cases still hasn't made reparations).
This is our teenage crisis right now, the world can fuck off.
