Lots of guys with middle class upbringing, and college degrees. Mohamed Atta had a college degree, though looking now, Wikipedia has put a "economic uncertainty" spin on his radicalization:

Just saying that professional success doesn't necessarily make one a winner at life.

Assuming he is in his early 20s and in the Bay Area while not in school, no doubt he is still living with his parents.
