The difference is that commercial businesses stand to lose money if an outraged public decides to send a message via a boycott.

Abandoning Trump is likely to cost Evangelical ministers money in the collection plate, because for some ungodly reason the Bible thumpers love them some Trump.

(I'm setting the personal morality of these business leaders aside, because I do believe that it was a major factor)
