I was thinking, he's got to be flamboyantly gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). There's no excuse otherwise.

I'll admit my Yankee fanboi glasses here, but I really didn't think Betances even should have been ejected, much less suspended. The Yankees are fighting for a playoff spot and the game was tied 6-6 in the 7th. It makes absolutely no sense for Betances to open the inning by hitting McCann - who had no part of any of the earlier kerfuffles - and risk getting thrown out of the game, while setting up the Tigers for a possibly big inning. On top of that, Betances has no history of head hunting. Suddenly he turned into Pedro Martinez? That pitch most likely just got away from him.

To your other point, why would Girardi get suspended? Ausmus was still in the game when the Tigers retaliated against the Yankees for hitting Miggy in retaliation for Fulmer hitting Sanchez. Girardi got tossed after Kahnle got the heave-ho and before everything really went haywire.

The umps screwed this all up by not warning the dugouts after Fulmer hit Sanchez just because Sanchez had the temerity to smash one of his pitches into the bleachers.

    Errch!
    pump the brakes.
It does not matter one iota if you're in the middle of a pennant race or not......if you're the third pitcher in after warnings have been given and you hit someone in the head with a 99 mph cheese ball......you should get suspended.
If you're going to use your logic, why did Wilson get suspended?
Manfred, etc,etc pissed down his leg on this one.
