I have heard of a grand total of zero songs on Billboard's current Hot 100

Spent four or five hours on the road yesterday, blissfully listening to scratchy KKYX on the AM dial. For free.

Heh. I'm actually going to see Popper and the crew in August at a local winery. Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors.

I know this song. My kids (9 and 5) watch the show.

Interesting example of the many directions or distribution channels music can come from nowadays.

The feeling of clicking on that and remembering watching it live put me, in spirit, on the thread about things that make us feel old.

A few months ago, my town inaugurated a minor 1970s rocker into our Arts Walk of Fame. One of the best live performances I found of his was from an old 1976 Midnight Special I found on YouTube (for reference, I was born in 1985). I texted my dad with what I was watching and I think it was one of his proudest moments.

That being said, I watched a bunch of rando Midnight Special clips because I love 70s music and I was like, "Why does something like this not exist now?!"

si my cousin salon married tonight and I'm hammered beyond belief. Kind o f s scary that the playlist mirrored my own iPod with stevie, ewf, and ac/dc considering he is 20 years younger.. Steveie is the best.

Reading through this thread again. Pretty good stuff.

It's led me to play a WCFL aircheck in the background while watching Steelers-Colts replay.

Damn, I loved WCFL. My radio alarm for school at 6:30 every morning. The Voice of Labor!

It was replaced by MTV and music videos. My brother and I used to stay up for Midnight Special which came on after the Tonight Show which was still 90 minutes. This meant it started at 1AM and ran until 2:30. It was a matter of honour to stay awake for the whole thing.

Let's not forget Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, another late-night staple
