The hard part is getting people to accept that non-hateful people perpetuate the systems of injustice.

God, if we could only give evangelicals what they want, everything would be peachy keen.

It is hard. Being "tough on crime" perpetuates systems of injustice. So does keeping marijuana illegal.

It is, for example, a plum fact that crime rates plummeted after the 1994 crime bill. But that, according to more than a few academics, is a racist law.

So, on the one hand, you have far fewer murders, which liberals love to trot out there whenever Trump conjures up a nightmarish vision of America.

On the other, you have a supposedly racist law that lowered those crime rates.

Abortion is legal. Has been for 44 years.

They don't get everything they want, and to suggest they do is ignorance.

I could make the argument - I don't personally quite believe it - that conservatives use the abortion law as a way of abdicating responsibility for babies with poor mothers who, after all, could have just had an abortion.

Please. If you could, you and your good and godlies would have any woman who considers abortion drawn and quartered.

I sincerely acknowledge -- and have long acknowledged -- both of those things. Wow, you and I are on the same page. Who knew?

When you have a national party that represents your views, I'll give it a long look
