Running 2017 MLB regular season thread

KMBZ is reporting Danny Duffy was cited for DUI at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Must have tossed down a few on the flight from Cleveland.

 

He was in the parking lot of a Burger King in Overland Park, KS. If true, that's a Whopper of a story.

If it's the BK at Metcalf and 81st, I had my fifth birthday party there when Whitey Herzog was still the manager.

Edit: Arrest at 135th and Metcalf. Damn. In 1979, that was all farmland as far as the eye could see.

 

So far as I can tell, they just keep plopping down the same development further and further south. Last time I was out there it seemed like you couldn't drive eight streets north or south on Metcalf/Nall/Antioch/etc. without hitting another plaza with a Target, Panera, etc.

After 43 scoreless innings, I'm surprised Duffy was the only Royals pitcher busted for DUI that night.

 

I stayed in the Embassy Suites in Overland Park at Metcalf and 435 when I was in KC about a month ago. Didn't eat at Burger King, though.

 

I'd love to see the dash cam video. Duffy probably became unglued when he stumbled off the straight line and didn't get the outside corner.

While he may be the "Ace" of 2016-17 and was on 14-15, he wasn't an integral part of the pennant runs.

 

Iceland South is where the Kansas City Scouts used to practice. Not far at all. After skating, we would go over to Metcalf South, ride the merry go round and buy my Topps cello packs for 69 cents.

Nice start last night from Six-Inning Jake, who now has a 3.36 ERA in 158 IPs this year. His great-great-great-great grandchildren will be going to college on some of the money he has recouped the last two months.
