It's assholes being assholes. These defectives, who did the same thing in Boston, come in at the tail end of peaceful demonstrations and start acting out, secure in the knowledge that violence drives news coverage. They suck.
Note: They aren't even antifa, just a subset of same.

 

It's really not that hard if you have enough skill to organize an event. Designate some people as lookouts, let the police know there are trouble makers in the crowd and point them out.

In Boston, that was kind of hard because the trouble seekers showed up at the back of the long march group and didn't really get started until hours after most of the crowd, including organizers, had gone home.
