I can't think of anything China makes that I can't live without.

I used to work with a woman who wrote about her family living a year without products made in China.

You know, the device you just now typed this on (or at least its component parts) was probably made in China.

That's likely true. But it doesn't mean a similar device could not be acquired someone else without components made in China.

It's odds on your socks and underwear were made in China. Hope you live in a warm climate.

The prices on such devices would go up considerably

There is a decent chance you own things that were made in North Korea, actually. As labor has gotten more expensive in China, there are quite a few Chinese textile manufacturers that have turned to factories across the border for the cheaper labor. The stuff leaves North Korea with "made in China" labels on it.

Nope. My boys are cradled by quality Thai-made briefs.

That wasn't a condition of the original post.

It only said, basically, there is nothing exclusive to Chinese manufacturers that he could not live without.

We're all aware that the $7 tennis shirts from Walmart I've been wearing for 15 years would cost more if not made in China. But I CAN live without them. And I CAN pay a lot more.

Leave consumer goods aside, you know how much of our industrial infrastructure is made in China? How many US products and industries rely on raw goods and materials made in China?
