So happy to awake to news that the leader of the racist Republican Party is planning to doom his organization to a generation or two of irrelevance.

DACA ... yet another moral imperative that President Obama rushed to act on when he had a Congress he could get things done with.

This is false. You can't have been convicted of a significant misdemeanor or a felony.

You support deporting the Dreamers, YF? Yes or no?

Come on, YF, feelings matter more than facts. It's @typefitter's thoughts that count.

My understanding is that DACA is one of those rare pieces of legislation that both sides generally agree is a smart idea. Why Trump would fuck with it now, given Harvey and California and North Korea... I have no fucking idea. Well, I have one idea. BECAUSE HE'S RAY-CESS.

Or three misdemeanors of any kind.

A single DUI would disqualify you. These are law-abiding people.

Well your understanding is pretty flawed because DACA isn't a piece of legislation.

I will confess that I have no idea what you call it in the US when the president makes a piece of... policy? Enlighten me. An act? A bill?

Am I wrong that DACA generally receives bipartisan support?

Do I support deporting all dreamers? Of course not.

But, the system was always meant to be temporary. They don't have legal status -- only a reprieve from deportation and a work permit.

People here -- who intend to stay -- need to be on a path to citizenship if they're going to remain here.

Congress could have acted at any point. Trump's action will force Congress to act. That's a good thing.

And, if it means that border enforcement is part of a deal that grants dreamers a path to citizenship, that's a good thing too.

I'm sure Trump and the Republican Congress won't fuck this up. Look at how well they handled healthcare.

    Let's wait and see!
