Just looked up their high school team's stats on MaxPreps. The 2011 Harvard-Westlake Wolverines finished 23-8.
    WTF!?
Were they secretly playing in the California League instead of the CIF?
Fried isn't listed on the 2011 roster, but was on the 2012 roster with Flaherty. That team went 24-5 and lost in the second round of whatever the hell California's playoff system decides, to a 19-15 team that got run-ruled in its next game. They'd made it to the quarterfinals in 2011.
    Weird game, baseball.

Hmm. I wonder about Del Curry's baseball stats. He was a starting pitcher, Fort Defiance, VA, and won a state title in 1983 I think. Maybe 1982.

Maybe Price doesn't complain that ownership and the front office are failing him?

You have to be careful with Maxpreps. Harvard-Westlake is in the Mission League of the Southern Section in the CIF. It looks like they were the No. 1 seed in the Southern Section D2 playoffs and got bounced in the second round. The fact that Fried and Giolito are listed as seniors in 2012 but Fried is absent in 2011 leads me to believe the roster isn't right.

The team they lost to in the 2012 playoffs was an at large team. Harvard probably didn't have a reliable No. 2 starter or (if Valecia, I think, came out of the wild card round) if the other team got it's No. 1 pitcher back for that game.

Fried transferred to Harvard-Westlake in 2012. Flaherty was two years behind and pitched the school to a section title as a junior in 2013.

God's right fielder did very well for a guy who hadn't played above HS and hadn't played at all in a dozen years: 8 HR and 52 RBI.
But the notion, advanced by superfan Skip Bayless et al, that he should be a candidate for call-up is absurd.

Bauer and Garcia had a dick measuring contest. Bauer won.

From most reports, Bauer can still crank a fasty up to about 94.

I'd think 0-2 would have been a good time to buzz one right under Avy's chin.

Bauer has about a 4.50 ERA and Garcia is second in the league in hitting.

    Congrats on your strikeout, dude.

Yes but Bauer's ERA is better than Lester's, and Garcia is a BABIP mirage.

    I agree about Garcia. .456 second-half BABIP.
