We conduct junior matches between the Virginias and Carolinas every year (kind of a Ryder Cup style all-star event), and in 2013, Doc Redman and Mark Lawrence Jr. were both playing in those matches. Crazy that four years later they were in the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur. Good for Doc. That finish yesterday was incredible.

I asked him last week, at the PGA. He said he wasn't sure if he'd travel somewhere or not. He did say he'd probably want to see it rather than worry about photographing it.

Spieth is 4 under through three to grab a share of the lead.

Unless Spieth wins the last two and the FedEx Cup, Justin Thomas is player of the year.

  5. Props to Stacey Lewis. Wins the LPGA event and donates her winnings to Harvey recovery efforts (close to $200k).

    Sergio... Haha!

Very cool of Stacy Lewis. And her main sponsor, KPMG, matched the donation.

That was some good stuff outside of Boston today. Spieth was firing on all cylinders but didn't have enough juice down the stretch. JT and JS are good friends -- but this could be a juicy rivalry for the next decade-plus.

That pitch through the cameraman's legs was fun.

Can't say enough about Stacy Lewis. Hadn't won in three years, with a dozen seconds along the way. And she'll get just as involved with that money as J.J. Watt has with what he has raised. Great, great, great.

I still have no idea how he even saw it coming, let alone was able to react in time.

The last two weeks of the Fedex Playoff have been great; Spieth with the blistering start, then Leishman up then down, meanwhile Thomas steady most of the way (see his tee shot on 17(the last par 3)? Yeah pressure gets everyone).

Plus Stacy Lewis' pledge was awesome.

That all being said, the US Open was killer, Del Potro's comeback and Keys' comeback were great theatre.

Watched Thomas on Feherty last night.
Kid just seems like he gets it.
Doesn't take himself or the game too seriously.
And the fact that he has Jimmy Johnson on his bag to calm him down when he gets too riled up.....perfect combo.
He has to feel like he won lotto when Stricker told him to go loop for Thomas.

I played in a Web.com Tour pro-am with Thomas four years ago. Can attest to the fact the kid's a class act. His dad was a club pro. Those guys (Love is another example) seem to "get it," as you say.
