Did you see Shimmer Lake yet? Kind of neo-noir-ish.
The Founder about Ray Kroc starring Michael Keaton is quite good.
    Hell or High Water.
    The Nice Guys is fun.
If you're interested in diving into a series I'd go with Ozark, Happy Valley or Intelligence.

Thanks for the suggestions. Of that group, "Hell or High Water" is the only one I've seen. Really liked it.

"The Founder" intrigues me. And I'm way behind. And if we're talking throwback baseball-themed movies, I still want to see "Fences."

Going to look into each of those. Thanks again.

If you want a baseball themed movie, go with The Phenom - with Paul Giamatti. Its not a traditional 'baseball movie" - closer to Good Will Hunting - but still good.

We saw "The Big Sick" this weekend. First non-kids movie that Mrs. W and I have seen in the theater in probably 5 years. Well worth it -- great movie. Very well written and some top notch performances.

Saw Lucky Logan -- best movie I've seen this year. It's not Earth-shattering, it's not Oscar-worthy, but damn if it's not fun and entertaining. Great cast (James Bond as a Southern redneck is a sight and sound to behold), great script (the writer of which is apparently a massive inside-joke on Hollywood) and Steven Soderbergh is always in his element with a heist movie.

We picked wrong. Was between Lucky Logan and Hitman's Bodyguard. I wish we'd seen Lucky Logan.

The Girl on the Train seemed like it was leading somewhere a lot more interesting than where it ended up.

Saw Wind River and Pattycakes this weekend.

Wind River was well done; only knock though is that its got the "white" savior thing going again. Not as bad as The Last Samurai, but its there.

Pattycakes was a very good story. Loved the friendships that are shown and Cathy Moriarty is super as a rap star.

We went to see 'Wind River.'
It was capably done. I had some problems with it, but it wasn't quite bad.
I don't recommend it, nor do I denounce it.

"The Founder" held my attention throughout (perhaps the biggest litmus test in the age of multiple browser tabs open and devices on while watching). Well done. Michael Keaton has had some strong performances in recent years. Really enjoyed that.

"The Phenom" was a disappointment. Not really worth going into the details.
