Agreed, but he doesn't give a damn if he has to encourage some people to put themselves in harm's way if it helps him make his politically-motivated argument. And of course, YF is defending the irresponsible asshattery.

It's a tenet of climate science that a warming planet will have more extreme storms in both winter and summer. The overall global temperature went up significantly (for scientists, it was way less than like a half degree) in the winter of 2015. We had over six feet of snow in that February, and it didn't melt. Schools, which usually have flat roofs, had to close for a week. Rich people in ritzy suburbs were paying a crew of specialists from Minnesota by way of Siberia (honest!) like 5-10 K a pop to remove ice dams from their roofs. Of course, at the same time, it was like brush fire and triple-digit pus heat time in the Sydney suburbs.

Given that Miami is already having problems with flooding due to rising sea levels, we may see another major city flooded. At least Irma is supposed to move through Florida pretty fast, and not just sit over the city and rain for days. High tide is at noon tomorrow, so the storm surge will be pretty bad.

It was 72 and sunny for millions of years across the globe. Then humans came along and fucked it up.

Things sometimes happen for one reason. Therefore they cannot possibly happen for another reason later.

Jonah Goldberg has never been in Trump's corner:

"But the man is not some political chess master — he’s a tic-tac-toe chicken pecking at whatever morsel of provocation his sphincterless id lights upon. If not every day, then certainly every week, Trump tweets something that causes his sane supporters to suffer from scrotal constriction and makes his life tougher and his agenda more difficult."
