Layered Storytelling in Music

We are talking about storytelling and Harry Chapin - and haven't mentioned Cats in the Cradle?

That's like describing Nolan Ryan's dominance, and never mentioning his fastball.

 

Cats in the Cradle was great storytelling. But so was WOLD, so was Love Song, and so was this. He left us far too early.

And when we're talking about the Loaf, I've always been rather partial to this.

Either John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas, or Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, spun a fantastic story with Me and My Uncle.

 

Yep, 'Rift' is another great album. Personal favorite from that one is 'Maze.'

 

True story ... Night the Lights Went Out popped up on the radio last night. And it was the first time I realized she not only killed the wife, she killed the lover that her brother was hung for.
