Anyone else following this one:
Chicago activist: Video of Kenneka Jenkins shows her walking into freezer alone

Teen goes to a party in a suburban Chicago hotel. Vanishes. Is spotted on some weird Facebook Live video from the night before. Is then found dead in a hotel freezer. black twitter has been going crazy with conspiracy theories that she was raped and murdered. Now a respected activitist in the Chicago area is saying no foul play was committed.

Just listened to an Australian Broadcasting podcast called "Trace" about the unsolved murder is a single mom of her bookstore in the '80s. Really worth checking out.

 

Black twitter? That's a thing?

 

When freqing goes too far.

 

It's not a real app or place...it is just a part of Twitter where it is overwhelmingly about black issues and black voices, and not really part of the mainstream. It's sort of like when nielson would break down tv ratings. There was the overall viewership, the white only viewership and the black viewership. The third category looked nothing like the first two.

 

You guys do realize that Twitter is a universe that you define yourselves? You only get tweets from people you choose. Likewise, if no one follows you, you're speaking in the forest with no one around right?

 

Except, you can also search for specific topics and trends and hence that is where the phrase "black twitter" comes from. For example, no one on my personal feed is talking about the Jenkins case. However, search for it, and there is a massive reaction to it.
