He hit one off the wall in Oakland a couple weeks ago. Off the 360 sign.
    He got a single.

Just an aside: Is Robin Ventura's walk-off the longest single in baseball history?

23 HRs and 14 doubles. Will be the third straight year his HRs outpace doubles by a good margin. Figure he's lost the foot speed to leg out a lot of doubles and ends up with a bunch of long singles to the gap, to the wall (see poindexter post above).

Really would like to see him break the all time marks for HR and RBIs. The HR record looks out of reach barring a miraculous revival. The RBI record could still be his if he can last the full remaining 4 years with LAA, which is a question in itself if that happens, based on recent performance.

Frank Thomas had a bunch of late-career seasons with crazy HR-2B gaps.

EDIT: OK, just one. But it was nutso - 39 HRs and 11 2Bs for the 2006 A's.

I don't think "hey don't bring your fucking kids" is the way baseball wants to go with marketing.

I do wonder why there seems to be the resistance to the nets ... When I win the Powerball and buy whatever team's available, there will be nets down both foul lines ...

    Fuck him.
He's killed the fucking team who is currently paying his salary.

    Look at this shit.

Thinking about comps, I randomly pulled up Rob Deer. Indeed, he had a season with 25 HRs and a .386 SLG.

    That's who Pujols has become.

My first spring training in 1980, the Royals' park in Ft. Myers had nets from foul pole to foul pole. Given the median age of those in attendance, this was a very sound move.

There was one in Arlington a few years back who died diving for a home run ball, IIRC.

No, it was for a ball that Josh Hamilton tossed to the guy. Speculation that it led to Hamilton's relapse that offseason and I don't really think he was ever the same player again after the incident.
