It is. U2 added a second leg to the tour and Beck is opening those shows. I saw the Lumineers open for them on the first leg of the tour in L.A.

Yep. Was very good at the show we both saw last June.

U2 just has great taste in opening acts. Never seen U2, but have seen four of my faves who've opened arenas for them: Lone Justice, Pixies, Arcade Fire and Florence + the Machine.

I've seen U2 a bunch of times, and I can't remember a single opening band, even after reading through this list of opening acts:

First time I saw U2, on the Unforgettable Fire tour, the Waterboys opened.

Now I've gotta add the Ramones and the BoDeans, and Boston bands of my college days like Mission of Burma (opened for Foo Fighters at Fenway two years ago!), the Stompers and LaPeste.
And I am in freaking shock that Lone Justice tops the list at 57 shows - that's much of the Joshua Tree tour. It kinda sucked that Maria McKee decamped to Ireland for about 25 years after that tour, at the advice of Bono, as the story goes, after getting herself in all kinds of personal/romantic/chemical jam. But God bless her; his advice helped keep her alive and productive 30 years later. (Saw LJ at Lupo's in Providence the night before they appeared on the '86 Christmas SNL with Shatner.)

Just to bring that full circle, they now play "The Whole of the Moon" on the P.A. as the band comes out. (It was "Rainy Night in Soho" by The Pogues earlier in the tour.)

Next concert likely won't be until November 5 - Josh Ritter in Philly.
Last concert - Over a 1-1/2 week period in August I saw Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, Dan Bern, and Slaid Cleaves.
Best concert - One of the many Springsteen concerts I've been to.

Possible trifecta this weekend -- Ted Leo on Saturday, Cloud Nothings on Sunday, Charly Bliss on Monday.

That Charly Bliss album is awesome. Would love to see them live.

Had a chance to see them a few months ago and just didn't go. Won't skip it this time. They'll be back AGAIN next month with a step up -- opening for Wolf Parade at the local House of Blues. So it will be three times through Cleveland in like four months. Monday's is at a small club which can fit about a hundred people. I figure will be the last time in awhile to see them at a place like that.
