The editor of The Atlantic is Jeffrey Goldberg, you dense pile of ham.

 

Maybe they just see it as anti-police.

And, let's remember that Kaepernick didn't just sit (and then eventually kneel) during the national anthem.

He did specifically say that he wasn't going to show pride in our flag: "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." So it wasn't just about using this opportunity to draw attention to police brutality.

He also spoke positively about Fidel Castro, and his "investment in education and health care." He wore t-shirts depicting Castro and Malcolm X, and Che Guevara.

He donned socks that depicted cops as pigs.

So, it's perfectly understandable to view Kaepernick as a guy who doesn't like America. Who doesn't like cops. Who is a supporter of an oppressive communist regime, based on some misguided notion that racism doesn't exist in Cuba, and that the state cares about its people enough to invest in their education and health care.

It's this anti-America, anti-cop protest that players and celebrities are signing on to.

 

The protest is about cops killing unarmed black men, including children, and facing no consequences for their actions. That's only anti-cop in a police state.

 

Apologies. I should have written "a senior editor at the Atlantic".

I mean, it would be unfathomable for the top editor of the Atlantic to be a guy who mused about a possible connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda, and who supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Oh. Wait. Jeffrey Goldberg did both those things, and is the editor of the Atlantic, a fierce Trump critic, and a member in good standing of the media elite.

 

They are not signing onto that any more than you are signing on to chant "Jews will not replace us" by supporting Trump.

 

And that is not easy to do for a man of his size and age.

 

Doesn't matter.

 

Spicer was a real pariah at the Emmys.

 

He's a liar. Reality doesn't matter.
