Because healthcare in Cuba is free.

    Because education is also free.

Because the infant mortality rate in Cuba is 4.5 per 1,000 live births. It's 5.8 in the United States.

Because the adult literacy rate in Cuba is 99.8 percent. It's 86 percent in the United States.

Because other countries in the world do lots of things better than the United States.

    Because facts.

"Opposition to the Iraq war" and "Who didn't wear a flag pin" agree: Conservatives never, ever question Liberals' patriotism.

    So does Joe McCarthy.

    Holy shit!

You just took Fidel’s side. This is incredible.

An educated guy, just told us —in 2017 — how fucking awesome a place Cuba is.

I bet you would have loved the Soviet Union under Stalin too.

Holy shit. I still can’t believe you wrote that. It’s so terrible, it’s kind of awesome.

You should pitch this as an article.

How else could you go on about the education and health care systems in Cuba, and compare them favorably to our own?

That's what you asked. I answered. I don't want to live in Cuba, although it's a nice place to visit. But its education and healthcare systems are better in some ways than America's. Fewer babies die. More adults can read.

I've lost track of the number of times people have said to me, go kneel for the anthem in North Korea or Turkey or Russia and see what happens.

Yeah, I’m not much interested in poverty tourism, cheap prostitutes, or spending money that will go to a regime that oppresses its citizens.

I’ll wait to visit until Cuba is free. Canadian (and a growing number of American) tourists propped up a murderous regime, that was desperate for hard currency.

    It’s a disgrace.

Yeah, what’s always been missing in a discussion of Fidel Castro is nuance.

More adults are in jail as political dissenters, too.

If they weren't killed for it, that is, like tens of thousands were.

This kind of overcorrection in the face of right-wing idiocy is exactly what YF has been mocking.
