What's the average person supposed to do to address the source of the problem?

People just don't know what to say or how to act. They want to provide some source of solace. It's like bringing a casserole to the house after the funeral. That's the good Midwestern way of providing comfort.

NBC reported he recently made "large gambling transactions."

Guessing those weren't ones that flowed in his favor.

I'm very OK that she's not.

Not mentioning the politics - policy, more accurately - is also an act of politics.

You're not wrong. I just remember a time before Twitter, when everyone wasn't compelled to say something.

    Yeah. Sure.

But, don’t tell me your putting politics aside as you inject them into the conversation.

It’s just another example of what a phoney she is.

The "average person" are the voters who elect the leaders responsible for our gun laws.

I just have little patience left for the "thoughts and prayers" bunk coming from those who support laws that virtually GUARANTEE this will happen. Seriously, WTF do we think is gonna happen when our laws allow drunk and unstable people in Las Vegas to carry military-grade automatic assault rifles that were designed for no purpose other than to kill many people rapidly in warfare?

    Isn't it frickin OBVIOUS?

That is part of it. I haven't looked at Facebook today. I'm wondering how many are offering thoughts and prayers on there. Plenty equate saying nothing with meaning they don't care about it. So they just say something basic.

How about instead of acts of terror we go with mass shootings. That's generally some screwed up white person, with or without an agenda.

I think because any time a tragedy happens related to Islamic terrorism, he's here to make a snarky comment before the bodies are cold. When the nut-job shot up the congressional softball practice he didn't allow for much of a grace period to gleefully note the shooter's political leanings. I'm sure much of this is to tweak liberals, and I give him credit for not running from this particular conversation. Especially after making a hasty proclamation that he would absolutely roast a journalist over. But I think that given the current political climate and YF's track record on commenting about terrorism, alleged terrorism, and gun violence, the blowback is understandable, if not entirely appropriate.

Correct, regardless of the existence of silencers, these guns are simply killing machines.

There is no logical -- or constitutional, by the way -- argument for their casual availability in American culture.
